Under Directorate of Livestock, District Artificial Breeding Centre, Rangpur Office was established in 1957. Artificial insemination is playing a major role in livestock production in Bangladesh as well as playing a leading role in breed development. The district headquarter is located at Robertsonganj, Alamnagar in Rangpur City Corporation.From the time of inception till now the liquid cement produced at the center is supplied to Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat districts from District Artificial Insemination Centre, Rangpur and frozen cement sent from Central Artificial Insemination Laboratory, Savar, Dhaka. The center has two Black Bengal goats which are native to the area. Also from this center cuttings of improved varieties of grass are distributed among the farmers.
